Abstract

DIAN KUSUMAH : “THE INFLUENCE OF STUDENTS’ KNOWLEDGE OF LEARNING ENGLISH AFFIXES ON THEIR ACHIEVEMENT IN ENGLISH VOCABULARY AT THE SEVENTH GRADE OF MTs PEMBANGUNAN MANDIRANCAN”. Many students know the english vocabulary, but they did not understand about english affixes. Therefore, the writer and the english teacher try to learn english affixes in their achievement in english vocabulary as the problem solving to solve the problem. Mastering vocabulary is one of basic for everyone to be a good learner of English then they will not feel confuse in constructing, producing, writting or memorizing the sentences of English. One of the most problems facing middle and secondary school teachers today is that many students come into their classrooms without the requisite knowledge, skills, or disposition to read and comprehend the materials placed before them. The purposes of writing this is to know the students’ learning Affixes, to know the students’ achievement in English Vocabulary, to know whether there is positive and significant the influence of learning English Affixes on the students’ achievement in english vocabulary and give the meaning about derivation as a part of word-formation in Morphology and Vocabulary. The analysis and methodology is used in this thesis is quantitative method. After collecting the data, the writer describes to understand as good as in order to write it better. The result of this thesis can be seen from the average score of the test in English Affixes is 6.25. This score is “good enough”. In other words, learning English Affixes at the seven grade can be regarded as “good enough”. The result of vocabulary test is 8. This score is generally categorized as “good”. It means that the students’ achievement in English Vocabulary can be categorized as “good”. The result of the influence of Learning English Affixes on the students’ achievement in making English Vocabulary is 0.60. This score can be categorized as “sufficient”.
