Abstract

The background of the research problem is that there is a tendency to put children to Boarding school after graduating from their Elementary school. But what about the readiness of the children themselves, readiness to learn to live independently, to hang out with other friends, and readiness to learn well amid dense Islamic boarding School activities. The problem can be identified from a variety of behaviors revealed by the children, including they always want to win themselves, have not been able to motivate themselves as they still like to truant, have no such self-awareness such as cheating, aggressive, irritable, rebellious, withdrawn from their environment, even they are often absent from school and do not follow Islamic boarding school activities. Regarding to the problem, the writer is interested in appointing the title Islamic Boarding School Contribution in Spiritual and Emotional Quotient of the Children (a Case Study at the MTs KHAS Kempek Cirebon) The purposes of this research are: 1. To describe the environmental patterns of the Islamic boarding school Kempek Cirebon. 2. To explain spiritual quotient of the students at the MTs KHAS Kempek Kab.Cirebon. 3. To explain emotional quotient of the students at the MTs KHAS Kempek Kab.Cirebon. This research uses a quantitative approach and the technique of collecting data used in this study using a questionnaire. The population for this study is students of grade VII at the MTs KHAS Kempek Kab.Cirebon totaling 7 classes (350 students) with a sample of 70 students is Grade VII B (35 male students) and VII E (35 female students) taken by random. This research concluded that there is a significant contribution between boarding school life with spiritual and emotional quotient of students at the MTs KHAS Kempek Cirebon. It can be seen from the calculation of correlation using SPSS 16.0 for windows, Based on the output can be seen that the correlation between X to Y1 is equal to 0.938, with a significance level α = 0.05 significance obtained (Sig.2-tailed) of 0.000. Since Sig. 0.000 ≤ 0.05 means that the correlation between the two items are significant to the level of correlation between 0.800 to 1.00 or were in the range of correlation is very high / very strong. And based on the output can be seen that the correlation between X to Y2 is equal to 0.878, with a significance level α = 0.05 significance obtained (Sig.2-tailed) of 0.000. Since Sig. 0.000 ≤ 0.05 means that the correlation between the two items are significant to the level of correlation between the 0.80 to 1.00 range correlations or are at very high / very strong.
