Abstract

English teachers in the 21st century, have any challenges for their teaching learning process, doing something for their students and must attended the strategies or technique for teaching. However, every teacher must be understanding the basic teaching skill especially about pedagogical competence. So, researcher will provide a beneficial description, can be a reference for EFL teachers in upgrading the pedagogical competencies and useful piece of information about the EFL teacher pedagogical competence in the 21st century. This research used the qualitative phenomenological research that can be used through observation, questioners, and interviews to get the data. This research identification to analyze the teachers needs of pedagogical competence in the EFL Junior High School and to know teacher's do in the pedagogical competence. This research was done to figure the explanation teachers needs from answer the following research questions: (1) What is the EFL teacher do in applying pedagogical competencies in the 21st century? (2) What is needed for the EFL teacher to expand their pedagogical competence? Then, the conclusion of the research is the EFL teacher‟s do in applying their pedagogical competence in the 21st century indicated in the seven things, they are: educational learning process, understanding the student‟s characteristics, developing the curriculum, assessment and evaluation the teaching learning, the student‟s potential development, educational learning theory and principles, and managing the learning communication. Then, the teachers‟ need are expanding their pedagogical competencies especially in the 21st Century, which is need to mix and match the method by apply the cooperative learning, private talk to student by paying attention clearly, update then upgrade the lesson plans to be sync with the central syllabus, seeing the student‟s result score and attitude, give the stimulus by join the extracurriculars, able to controlling learning principles and using educational e-learning with smart digital platform. This research wants to be useful for those who read this research or for the reader, spreading the knowledge for other people.
