Abstract

The learning methods used today are starting to feel bored by students, especially in learning English. One of the obstacles is the readiness of learning media which is less attractive to students. There are so many media that can be used for learning, but as technology develops, not all media can attract students' attention. This study discusses developing learning video materials for teaching short messages, especially at the junior high school level. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of good learning video materials in the use of writing skills and to explain how to develop short message learning video materials. This research uses R&D (Research and Development) research. Data analysis used interviews and questionnaires. The researcher conducted a semi�structured interview and the type of questionnaire used in this research is an open�ended questionnaire. The findings of this study indicate that there are nine characteristics of writing skills learning video materials as follows; development, learning, videos, materials, learning materials, teaching, writing, short messages, and junior high school. There are eight components in the product specification, namely video introduction, video opening, display & ice breaking, video material, questions, exercises, summary, assignments, and closing.
