Abstract
Video animation to teach listening is one of the learning media that carries the learning of the 21st century. Where in development and use utilize technology. By presenting images and sounds, students will find it easier to understand the recount text material and can hone students listening skills. The purpose of this study is to know the need and the prototype (developed product) animation video at senior high school. This research uses research and development (R & D) to develop the product. This product development is carried out following the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). However, due to time constraints, the development is only up to the development stage. The results show that to know the need for video animation to teach listening it is necessary to know the characteristics of video, and the principles of teaching listening (including material and asessment). Furthermore, the need for video animation to teach listening is described in the following characteristics, first, presenting the content of the listening material clearly and by the level, needs, and interests of students. Second, visualizing the listening material precisely and interesting. Third, presenting listening materials and activities to provide changes in students' language and behavior. Fourth, providing listening tasks and exercises based on students' level. Fifth, promoting user-friendly. Sixth, applying high-resolution video. Then the prototype (developed) this products is based on these characteristics, such as the development learning objective, visualization, content, exercise and animation video that adapt learning process.
