Abstract

TatiPratiwi :THE INFLUENCE OF LEARNING TRANSLATION ON THE STUDENTS’ COMPREHENSION IN WRITING PROCEDURE TEXT AT MA SUNAN GUNUNG JATI LOSARI CIREBON One of the function of learning English as a foreign language to the students’ in our country in any level is to make them be able to read, to write, to listen, and to speak English, language can exist the written form, written text. To understand the content of a text it certainly needs the knowledge of translation. This is why students who learns English or certain language should know the words. The aims of the research is to find out the influence of learning translation on the students’ comprehension in writing procedur text at MA SunanGunungJatiLosari Cirebon. According to Brislin(1976:1) explains that translation is the general term referring to the transfer of thought and ides from one language(source) to another (target), whether the languages are in written or oral form; the language has established orthographies or do not have such standardization or wheter one or both language is based on signs, as with sign languages of the deaf. Learning translation can also grow the students’ enjoy and can give the relationship between the content of teaching material with the round them life. The method of the research is quantitative research. The sample of research is 52 students. The research instrument used by the writer are observation and test. In analyzing the data the writer has used the formulation of Pearson’s correlation product moment. The writer has given the test and the result of students’ ability in learning translation by using multiple choice. The average score of the test is 6.92 this score can be rounded into 6.9. It means that the students’ learning translation can be categorized as enough. The average score of the students’ comprehension in writing procedure text as Y variable is 8.4 this score can be rounded into 8. It means that the students’ comprehension in writing procedure text can be categorized as good. The result of coefficient correlation is 0.47. Based on the value “r” it can be categorized that there is weak or low correlation between X variable and Y variable. In other words, there is influence of the students’ learning translation in their comprehension in writing procedure text. After the result analysis data of test, based on the value that has analyzed can be said that there is significant influence of the students’ learning translation on their comprehension in writing procedure text at the tenth grade atMA SunanGunungJatiLosari Cirebon. For the English teacher should better to motivate the students to use English all time, especially in translation.
