Abstract
Unemployment is a labor problem that is often faced by countries around the world, be it developed countries or developing countries. The problem of unemployment has always been a case that is not easily solved in every country. Because the population that increases every year, will cause an increase in the number of job seekers and at the same time the workforce will also increase. One indicator that can be used to measure unemployment is the Open Unemployment Rate (TPT). The amount of TPT value gives an indication of the size of the working-age population who are included in the unemployed. This study aims to determine the partial influence either directly or indirectly between economic growth (X1), human development index (X2), on the unemployment rate (Y) in Cirebon district with labor absorption (Z) as an intervening varibael. This research is a quantitative research using secondary data in the form of annual or time series from 2013-2022, the data obtained in this study is data obtained from BPS and West Java data banks. The method used in this study is a path analysis method. The results of this study show that economic growth variables do not have a direct influence on the unemployment rate in Cirebon district in 2013-2022. The human development index has a direct effect on the unemployment rate in Cirebon district in 2013-2022. Then the absorption of labor directly affects the unemployment rate in Cirebon district in 2013-2022. Indirectly, economic growth affects the unemployment rate through employment in 2013-2022 and the human development index as well as indirectly on the unemployment rate in Cirebon district through employment in 2013-2022.
