Abstract

This research aimed to study the effectiveness of Augmented Reality with Assembler Edu application to improve students reading comprehension. Here, the data taken from students of first grade in Junior High School 1 Plered as a source of the data. The researcher took students class VII E and VII F as the sample. The amount of each class in 63 students. This research used quantitative methods with the type of quasi-experimental. The data were collected through test with multiple choice. The result of this study shows that there is a significant in the effectiveness of using Augmented Reality to improve students reading comprehension. This can be seen from the result of the pre-test and post-test scores which shows that, before treatment, the experimental class got an average score of 13.08, a maximum score of 75, and a minimum score of 30 (before treatment). The average value of the pre-test and post-test of the experimental class (after treatment) was 77.03, with a maximum score of 95 and a minimum score of 60. The T-test result show that the T-test of the post-test in the experimental class is higher than the result in the control class. The results show that there is a significant difference between the average value of the experimental class of 77.25 while the control class is 77.03. The standard deviation of the experimental class was 9.295 and the control class was 8.314. On other hand, the average standard error of the experimental class was 1.669 and the control class was 1.469. The independent sample T-test data shows that t (df = 61) = 0.102 and the p-value or sig (2-tailed) is 0.919. Researcher use ɑ=0.05 (5%) as a significant level, so the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hɑ) is accepted because the p-value or sig (2-tailed) of 0.919 is greater than ɑ>0.05 (5%). It can be concluded that the use Augmented Reality with Assemblr Edu application is effective for students’ reading comprehension.
