Abstract
Abstract : This paper discusses the history of Dokter Djawa School in colonial period during 1851 to 1899. In the course of medical history in Indonesia , the Dokter Djawa School is an important milestone for the improvement of health for indigenous peoples when plague broke out at the time. On the other hand , the school is the forerunner for the formation of a new western-educated elite in the context of the indigenous people who will play a major role in sowing the seeds of nationalism in Indonesia
