Abstract
The purpose of this study to determine the factors and types of mathematical anxiety, as well as analyzing the differences in students' math learning anxiety based on socio-cultural differences with mountainous coastal communities. The method used in this research is Mixed Methods Research with Sequential Transformative Strategy model. The instruments used in the research are interview, observation, and questionnaire (Likert scale). The data analysis techniques using qualitative and quantitative. For qualitative analysis include data analysis technique and validity testing of data, while the quantitative analysis using Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and Different Test Independent Sample T-Test. The results showed that there are many factors that affect students' mathematical anxiety. Broadly speaking mathematical anxiety factors students include psychological/emotional, environmental and social as well as intellectual students themselves. The type of mathematical anxiety between students in the mountains and students in coastal areas has a difference. Different test results obtained value t = -3.956 with significance 0.000. This means a significant t-value (p = 0,000 <0.005) that students' mathematical anxiety between students of the mountains and the coast differed significantly. it can be interpreted that the social-cultural students have an effect on students' mathematical anxiety.
