Abstract
The main goal of science education is to prepare students understand concepts and to improve their thinking skills. The science education has to be able to do more to make students develop their high level thinking skills, for example critical thinking. To know the level of students achievement in developing critical thinking, we needs an evaluating tool that can be used to measure the skills. Measurement is an important factor in education, because we will know the exactly the students' position in one time and one activity. The formulation of the problem in this research is what U of measuring tools that have to be developed accurately to evaluate critical thinking ills of the high school students as the result of the lesson in the concep of thermochemistry. The objective of the research is developing measu g tool for critical thinking on the concept thermochemistry for high school students. sign sed in this research is "modified Research and Development (R&D)" by Brog (I 9). he location of this research is in several high school, such as Kuningan ncy (mountain area). Cirebon City (coastal area) and Majalengka Regency (agricultural area). The subject of the research is the students of science second grade determined randomly one class each school. The instruments used in this research are concept analysis, the framework of critical thinking skills measurement tool and the tool (consist of multiple chice test items to gain the level of students critical thinking skills generally and particularly in thermochemistry concept). The data collection technique is by written test. From the written test it is obtained the score of critical thinking skills. The qualitative data, kinds of concept and kinds of critical thinking skills indicators, are analysed descriptively. The quantitative data, the score of students' critical thinking skills, are analysed statistically. To know the difference of the high school students critical thinking skills each school is analysed statistically with LSD test. The result of the research shows that the critical thinking skills are significantly different among high school students in SMAN2 Cirebon, SMAN I Kuningan and SMAN Kadipaten Majalengka in the concept of thermochemistry. This shows that test developed can differ critical thinking skills in Cirebon, Kuningan and Majalengka area.
