Abstract
The development of lesson plans oriented to interactive online learning is used to improve speaking skills in accordance with the objectives of the 2013 curriculum through speaking skills. This study aims to determine the characteristics of the preparation of lesson plans by inserting greeting and leave taking materials to teach speaking and develop prototypes by considering the character. Research conducted using research and development (R&D) to develop products. The results showed that the characteristics of the preparation of the lesson plan with the insertion of greeting and leave taking material involved many characters who represented all the components of the lesson plan; provision of spiritual attitudes, social, knowledge, and skills; provide language skills, content, and problems; taking into account the different learning styles of students; presenting contextual and authentic learning; present interesting learning through various methods and techniques; presenting a scientific approach to student-centred learning and higher-order thinking skills; presenting the use of technology for 21st century learners; and promote activities that engage the right and left brain.
