Abstract

Mawlid means the day of birth. Later, the term maulid was used for the sirah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), because, as it is understood, history begins with birth or moments before birth. Sirah, or the life history of Rasulullah SAW, this creates a lot of different and unique ritual values in creating a social identity in the midst of a pluralistic society, so that the author can describe a maulidan tradition in an area of the Buntet Islamic Boarding School. The correlation is the values of tradition, ethnicity, culture, ukhuwah, tolerance, social and other tendencies towards the development of Islam in Indonesia on a grounded basis. In this research study, the writer will use a qualitative approach. A qualitative approach according to Lexy Moeleong's opinion is a research whose results are in the form of descriptive data through the collection of facts from natural conditions as direct sources with instruments from their own research. Based on several statements from the students, kyai and the local community responding to the meaning of maul and various opinions expressed, including According to the sawal (santri), I always followed muludan in the mosque because it was ordered by my kyai and felt closer to the Prophet Muhammad SAW. In line with the above narrative, Misnen (Buntet resident) feels the same way and has become an obligation to glorify it. Slightly different when asked to Kyai Ahmad (community leader) he gave a much more profound statement that the Prophet Muhammad's birthday is the gate to get the pleasure of Allah SWT which leads to the values of monotheism, faith, and piety during our life in the world
