Abstract
The use of Artificial Intelligence in writing is a growing area of interest, with potential benefits and drawbacks. The purpose of this research is to explore how ChatGPT facilitates the academic writing process for English pre-service teachers, to explore the experiences of English pre-service teachers regarding the use of ChatGPT in the academic writing process, to explore how English pre-service teachers respond to plagiarism concerns when utilizing ChatGPT in the academic writing process. This research uses phenomenological qualitative research which can be done through questionnaires as a pre-observation with 45 English presevice teachers, observation, interviews, and documentation to obtain data. Finding of this research obtained from this research is that ChatGPT facilitates English Pre-service Teachers' as a virtual assistant in the writing process, optimizes the writing process, and the language produced is quite academic but also influenced by prompts. English pre-service teachers have experience using ChatGPT as a basis for finding ideas, then creating a writing outline, exploring the information needed for the writing process, and translating, Regarding the issue of plagiarism, English pre-service teachers also still hold ethical principles in writing when using ChatGPT such as paraphrasing themselves and reviewing the results of ChatGPT.
