Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of contextual instruction in enhancing the conversation skills of junior high school students at MTS Islamic Center Cirebon. Contextual instruction, which connects learning material to real-life situations, is hypothesized to improve students' ability to engage in meaningful and fluent conversations. A quasi-experimental design was employed, involving two groups: an experimental group receiving contextual instruction and a control group taught using traditional methods. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to measure students' conversational abilities, focusing on fluency, coherence, and interaction. The results revealed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group, indicating that contextual instruction fosters better communication skills. These findings underscore the importance of implementing student-centered and real-world-oriented teaching methods to develop language skills effectively.
