Abstract

This research is based on the problems that many students experience when they learn English. Especially in understanding narrative texts. Many students are less interested in English, especially reading narrative text. They also still cannot understand the content of the text, cannot identify reading texts, lack English vocabulary and tend to be passive in class. From this problem, researcher became interested in making English learning more interesting, especially reading narrative texts. The researcher used a reading narrative text learning strategy using the Spelling Bee Game. This researcher aims to determine students' reading comprehension in narrative texts before and after using the spelling bee game technique, and to find out whether there is a significant influence from the spelling bee game on students' reading comprehension in narrative texts. In collecting research data, a pre-test and post-test were used with multiple choice questions to determine students' ability to understand narrative text. In analyzing the data, the researcher used SPSS 26. The researcher found that there was a significant effect of using Spelling Bee Games in learning to read narrative text as evidenced by the t 2tailed value) 0.001<0.05, so that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected.
