Abstract

This study investigated the needs of English teachers in implementing multimodal literacy in the Independent Curriculum and aimed to develop practical guidelines for designing multimodal-based English language teaching modules. This research used a qualitative descriptive method involving interviews and document analysis with English teachers who are currently implementing or transitioning to the Independent Curriculum. The research findings indicate that teachers recognize the importance of multimodal literacy in enhancing student engagement, creativity, and critical thinking. However, many teachers face obstacles, including limited infrastructure, inadequate training in multimodal pedagogy, and a lack of appropriate assessment tools for multimodal outcomes
