Abstract

Indonesian government has introduced a new curriculum (the prototype curriculum) that aims to help teachers design pedagogical schemes for dealing with the learning loss of the students due to the pandemic. However, there remains a missing link in school because, in fact, the new curriculum requires the teachers to decide and re-design the new assessment protocol before linking it with their pedagogical practices. In other words, the assessment protocol will decide the types of pedagogy that will be used by the teachers. The current literature showed that it is crucial for teachers to develop their assessment literacy. Assessment literacy is a collection of assessment attitudes, knowledge, and practices that lead a teacher, administrator, policymaker, or students and their families to utilize assessment to promote student learning and accomplishment (Michigan Assessment Consortium, 2017). In other words, assessment literacy should be an integral part of any English language teaching curriculum across the globe. This study offers a prototype of an innovative assessment protocol for literacy activities where the assessment rubric is developed by integrating the notion of the Multisensorial nature of learning, Bloom Taxonomy, Multiple Intelligence, and CEFR. This study was designed as R & D research where all steps (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) were completed. The results of this study show that the new assessment protocol is applicable even though it provides a complex assessment process. This research is expected to generate more assessment protocols that are compatible with how human actually learns language.
