Abstract
Learning media are critical to support the course of teaching and learning activities. One of the digital learning media is video learning. Following the development of increasingly modern technology, it is possible to design technology-based learning media such as learning videos that are considered more effective and efficient. Therefore, this study aims to explore the characteristics of video learning material in the 21st century and find out the needs of teachers and students for "Asking and Expressing Intention" learning using learning videos. This research project is a research and development (R&D) method that collects data through interviews and questionnaires. The respondents of this study for the interview were 1 English teacher, and the questionnaire was 25 students from class X. The results showed that of the eight main characteristics the researchers found, there were six characteristics of learning videos that matched the needs of teachers and students, including videos containing audio, text, and visuals. Then, the suitability of colors in the visuals, setting the suitable duration, appropriate material, simple and easy-to-understand language, and easy access to videos. The purpose is to make it easier for teachers to teach and complete students' basic competencies. In addition, it makes it easier for students to receive learning. Therefore, the researcher hopes this research can provide insights for material developers.
