Abstract

Speaking is one of the basic language skills that have to be mastered by English foreign learners due to its significance and its use for communication. The problems that are faced by the students regarding their speaking skills improved by providing new media for teaching speaking. Technology provides a fun and easy learning process through a variety of interesting media. This research aimed to describe the results of the speaking skills of students who are treated through the Flippity media, to describe the results of the speaking skills of students who are treated through the printed book, and to know the significant effect of the Flippity in improving students' speaking skills. This research used a quantitative research method with a quasi-experimental approach with group pre-test and post-test design involving 21 students.. The results of this research show that the mean score of pre-test results 42.29 and post-test results increased 24.38 points from 42.29 at pre�test into 66.67 at post-test. It means that students’ speaking scores have increased after implementing Flippity in the experimental class. A significant effectiveness on students’ speaking skills through the use of Flippity media can be seen from the increase of mean score of experimental class in the pre-test and post-test. The result of Paired Sample T-Test had a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 which means that Ha is accepted and there was a significant effect on students’ speaking skills through the use of Flippity.
