Abstract

Digital text learning needs to be applied in English language learning in the current Merdeka curriculum because the Independent Curriculum needs to integrate technology into learning. However, not all schools implement this well, because in reality the learning system in schools on average still uses traditional learning which rarely uses technology in its learning and the learning system still focuses on memorizing grammar and vocabulary only. This causes the quality of learning in Indonesia to decline, reflected in the 2022 International Students Assessment (PISA) data, Indonesia is ranked 68th, and in the 2022 EF English Proficiency Index (EPI) data, Indonesia is ranked 79th. 113 countries. This research aims to find out how digital text in historical story texts can be used in high school learning to improve literacy. This research uses qualitative methods with a Research and Development (R&D) design. The results of this research are 1) The creativity of the process in this product can create student-centered teaching and differentiated learning using the CEFR level because it can help students understand an English word according to their abilities, 2) The use of digital text can take into account student needs and learning is carried out in an integrated manner holistic, 3) Teachers are ready to transform from traditional to non-traditional learning by integrating digital learning, and 4) Students also feel interested and enthusiastic about digital-based learning compared to textbooks, because learning with the product that researchers have developed is differentiated learning compared to material that teachers usually provide through textbooks.
