Abstract

The use of learning media is very important because it helps students understand the material more clearly and interestingly, and supports various learning styles, such as visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. Learning media increases motivation, enriches the learning experience, and makes it easier for teachers to deliver material effectively. In addition, learning media also encourages interaction, active participation, and students' independence in learning, so that they can be more disciplined and independent. By presenting information in an interesting way, learning media also increases students' retention of the material taught, making the learning process more effective and meaningful. This study aims to find out the perceptions of teachers and students towards the use of Duolingo application as an English vocabulary learning media as well as to explore the effectiveness and potential benefits of integrating Duolingo as a widely used language learning application into the English vocabulary teaching process. This research method is a qualitative research method. The data collection techniques used were observation and interview. The instruments used were observation checklist and semi-structured interview. The researcher found that the use of Duolingo application as a learning media can help students to learn English vocabulary, it's just that the application process is quite difficult to adjust to the ongoing material.
