Abstract

In this 21st century, there are many new changes, including in the world of education. Teachers have a significant role in learning, for that teacher are required to adapt developments in this Era. The teacher's role is also very influential in the learning process and on the quality of learning outcomes. Through this research, the researcher tries to connect with the teaching of English teachers in Islamic Senior High School. This research aims to identify the characteristics and to recognized the requirements to become English teachers at Islamic Senior High School 21st century. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data were collected in a qualitative approach through critical literature review (CLR) and interview two English teachers at Islamic Senior High School. This research found 25 characteristics from 5 components of becoming English teachers at Islamic Senior High School in 21st century including: 1) English proficeincy, 2) pedagocial knowledge, 3) socio – affective skills, 4) Islamic value and 5) teachers in 21st century. In 25 characteristics to become English teachers produce the requirements, there are 44 of the requirements to become English teachers who was found.
