Abstract

In this 21st century education is developing very rapidly and experiencing many changes from technology, media, methods, curriculum to learning strategies. The development of the 21st century also encourages learner profiles to pay more attention to things that support students' developmental ability to communicate, think critically, creatively, and collaboratively. Kelly Edmonds believes that it is important to have a profile of students to design the course that best suits them, so that a complete picture of students' learning preferences and challenges can be reflected in the student profile. This aim of this research is to find out the successful Non-English Department Students in speaking skill, and to explore the factors that influence successful 21st century Non-English Department Students in speaking skills. This research used descriptive qualitative case study. The data collected from four students through interview. The result of this research showed the characteristics of Non-English Department Students in 21st century, such as have good critical thinking, creativity skill, collaborate, a good communication, Innovative and Self-direction. Learners who have critical thinking abilities can assess complicated situation, investigate questions, evaluate multiple points of view information sources and can conclude information based on facts. This research also showed some factors that influence speaking skills, such as Performance Condition, Affective Factors, Related to feedback during speaking activities and also Media. In performance condition students pay attention in time pressure, planning, the quality of the performance, and the level of support are all factors that influence speaking performance.
