Abstract
Developing guidelines for English online learning is a very important thing to do in order to create interactive online learning because guidelines provide useful recommendations or instructions that are useful and necessary to guide teachers and students regarding things that must be done and prepared by teachers and students in carrying out interactive English online learning activities. In this regard, this study attempts to develop guidelines for online EFL learning at the Senior High School level. The purpose of this study was to explore the characteristics of interactive online English learning guidelines and to explore how is the guidelines for interactive online EFL learning at Senior High School. Qualitative approach and educational research and design (R&D) proposed by Gall, Gall & Borg (2003) used in conducting this research. This research relies on the data sources from expert, teachers, and students as data sources and has involved several research steps consisting research and information collection, planning or creating a concept of the guidelines, designing the guidelines, and validating the guidelines. The results show that the characteristics of the guidelines for creating interactive online EFL learning in Senior High School involve various aspects, namely developing, guidelines, interactive, online, learning, interactive learning, EFL, EFL learning, and Senior High School. In addition, based on the findings, there are 7 topics that must be included in the guidelines developed according to the needs of teachers and students to be able to create interactive online EFL learning in high schools.
