Abstract

This study focus on the use of the Two-Stay Two-Stray (TSTS) method to improve the presentation skills of students in Grade VIII SMPN 2 Plered in the academic year 2023/2024. The purpose of this research is to assess whether the Two-Stay Two-Stray strategy has a substantial impact on students' presentation skills. The purpose of this study is to investigate how effective the Two-Stay Two-Stray strategy is in improving students' presentation skills in English classes. The researchers applied a quantitative approach with a true-experimental method. This research took two classes which were taught using different method. The sample of this study amounted to 37 childrem in the experimental class 8G and 37 children in the control class 8F. the instrument used in the research was Test. The test was used in two stages in this study that is the pre-test before given treatment and post-test after being treated using Two-Stay Two-Stray method. The population was eighth grade students’ of SMPN 2 Plered which consisted of 299 students. The samples were 74 students (37 students in experimental class, 37 students in control class). This research was conducted by the following procedure: giving pre-test, treatment, and giving post-test. The data were analyzed after getting the score of the test and processed using T-test formula in SPSS version 23. The result showed that the post-test the average score of the experimental class was 75,94 while the average score of the post-test control class is 61,62. This shows that there is a significant difference between the mean post-test scores of the two classes. The findings show that sig. (2- tailed) value is 0.000, which is less than specified significance value of 0.05. in other words, p<α ; (0.000 < 0.05). This shows that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected. So, from the explanation above, it can be concluded that there was a significant difference between the students’ presentation skills that were taught Two-Stay Two-Stray method and student who are not taught using Two-Stay Two-Stray method. In other words, Two-Stay Two- Stray method is effective to improving students’ presebtation skills of eight grade of SMPN 2 Plered.
