Abstract
In the context of implementing the Merdeka Belajar curriculum, for the learning process to be effective, teachers need to be able to design learning modules. However, many teachers are still unable to compile teaching modules independently. The purpose of this study was to explore how teachers understand the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum, teachers' readiness in the process of developing learning modules, and the challenges faced in the preparation of learning modules. This study used qualitative methods and in-depth interviews to explore teachers’ understanding of the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum, their readiness in developing learning modules, and the challenges they face in developing learning modules. Based on the results of this study, the data shows that teachers' understanding of the implementation of the Merdeka Belaja Curriculum can be said to be good because this is supported by several things, including teachers can understand their main focus in teaching and, learning objectives, teachers are also able to understand the strategies that must be carried out in terms of implementing learning in accordance with the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum. Regarding teachers' readiness in the development of teaching modules, teachers can develop teaching modules quite well because almost all English teachers have participated in various workshops related to teaching modules and are able to use any media and be able to adapt material from various sources. In addition, the teachers also revealed some challenges they faced in implementing the Merdeka Belajar Curriculum and the development of teaching modules. However, teachers were able to overcome these challenges with the assistance from schools and the utilization of technology.
